Green Award

In recent years accommodation providers and travelers alike are becoming more concerned with the impact of traveling on both the physical and social environment and making a conscious effort to reduce this impact by making more eco-friendly choices.

Through the Green Initiative Award, STAY WYSE would like to recognize the organization we feel is doing the most to reduce their environmental impact and make “ green travel” an important part of their operational activities and encourage others to follow suit.

The STAY WYSE Green Initiative Award – 2012

STAY WYSE the  association representing the youth travel accommodation industry, has announced the shortlist for the Green Initiative Award 2012.

The award recognizes the youth travel accommodation provider making the greatest efforts  to ensure that its operating practices promote environmentally friendly and sustainable travel around the world.

Last year the award went to Sydney Harbour YHA for its impressive dedication to combat carbon emissions and make efficient use of water and electricity, while reducing waste. Sydney Harbour YHA has ambitious targets, and has contributed towards environmental sustainability beyond the hostel in numerous other ways.

The winners will be chosen by the STAY WYSE board members and the award will be given out at the Industry Award Luncheon on September 21st, at the annual World Youth and Student Travel Conference (WYSTC) in San Diego.
